Best Buy, the company, definitely discriminates. Check their corporate website and you can see the plethora of SJW causes that that are DESIGNED to exclude others. How is that EQUALITY? They have stores that discriminate based on the store manager's personal bigotry and racism. So if a major company operates in such a manner, why would anyone believe that they sell products with integrity? You get what you pay for, except you don't. You pay a pretty penny to be scammed and treated like you are some piece of trash in the process.

Actually, I was surprised they actually used real 3600x heat spreader - most scams I have seen usually strips previous marking and etches existing heat spreader with new markings. And they generally, take the cheapest used CPU and sell it as most expensive CPU of that kind e.g. like last gen Intel Pentium or Celeron and sells it as top range. Something like Celeron G3930T which can be had for $10 used and fits same LGA1151 as i9 9900KS, or old Xeons which are extremely cheap and cross compatible. Now granted markings as such looked little bit sketchy, but without having another CPU to compare they looked good enough, maybe not enough to full IT expert, but certainly enough to fool some kid looking for good deals on ebay at least for long enough that they can't claim the money back, or even if they do, then long enough for fraudster to make more sales and get away with the money. ebay/paypal would refund the customer in the end, but the fraudster would be gone.

So not only clickbait, Maybe Linus Tech tips is in on it. Wait a second. Is this a public service announcement for "GOOD LUCK" For the future of humanity? I didn't notice anything wrong because I've lived in poverty in all of my life. It's clearly a generation to get away things now that there's more problems in the world, and more crime can happen now that we are so unfocused. I am not mad at the clickbait. I am actually not mad, just Amused! :D

You're laughing now, but I still rocked that CPU this time last year! :) It was ermm... "reliable" throughout it's service life and I have some fond memories of it. I had to resort to a DIY watercooled solution to eke out every drop of cyclic goodness from it cause the price of those things (watercoolers) are just bonkers for someone halfway across the world in some, almost 3rd-world town. It died a "good" death- blew up after years of proud service! :) I "upgraded" to a mobo-combo consisting of an i3-6100/16GB-DDR4 (I got "lucky") and a 2TB WD Black and I'm still playing on my trusty old Radeon 6770 - a smart investment back in 2011. That thing will prolly survive a nuclear war. It's been on overclock since 2015 and it has YET to give me any trouble. For a while I replaced it with a GT 1030, but that lasted only 6 months without an overclock, and then it just started throwing up artifacts and died. My dependable Radeon though... dutifully took over again. An SSD is out of my reach at this point. Well, that's gaming in a developing world I suppose, but at least I can play Combat Arms (The Classic), STALKER, Bioshock, Alien Isolation, Facry 3/Primal etc... so life's a doozy! ;)

To be honest, I think Best Buy does have an agenda. For one, I used to buy there all the time, now I pretty much never go there. I bought some pieces of audio gear at the Magnolia Best Buy: totaling over 4K. Yes, that stuff was listed as open box, but fully functional, under warranty and a decent discount, supposedly fully tested by Geek Bench. However, when I got it home, and mind you I bought it at the store, not shipped, both items were broken. The Preamps Bluetooth didn’t work at all, the 2 of the 3 coax connections on the back didn’t work. The power amplifier had one channel that was also broken. Here’s the funny thing: in the box I found a paper that stated that the power amplifier was actually a refurbished unit by the geek bench from a different location up north in New York (I’m in Texas). And they sold it to me as an open box that’s fully functional. Obviously I instantly return it back and got my refund, but have never shopped there again since. Best Buy is a big company, but they need to pay more attention to their employees. They tend to lie and deceive their customers just to make a sale. Even at higher level of sales and money count.

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned, but customs in other countries can be corrupt. They have the right to check the contents of any package to make sure that it contains what is listed on the manifest, but sometimes they take liberties. My aunt and uncle lived in Benin, Africa, and we had sent them candy bars, among other things. They opened the package and saw a bunch of wrappers, which had been carefully cut open and the candy removed.

At least it isn't the K6 series. The defective ones would explode when removing the heatsink. There are videos of this happening. Or it might be the 80386/80486 designs AMD started out on. Either way, no thermal throttling/integrated temp probes would cause the chips to literally explode from the heat. it became fun when the CPUs were defective to perform this little stunt. There are videos of people doing this. It was a joke that AMDs would run themselves into the ground getting that last frame for you to game with. Fun fact, back in early 2000's, I actually overclocked an AMD K6-III cpu on a laptop. it doubled FPS, at the expense of more heat. With decent upgrades (since the laptop was big enough), it actually performed quite well. Only laptop I've seen with DIP switches to set the CPU speed. I upgraded it from a K6-2 to a K6-III with 1GB of PC-133 SD-RAM, and it had an ATI Mobility GPU with 64MB VRAM. EDIT: I've also (using a soldering tool) overclocked a PowerBook G3 Pismo from 400-> 550Mhz with 1MB L2 cache and 1GB PC-133 SO-DIMM as well, and even found a Toshiba laptop with a desktop DDR-333Mhz DIMM in it as well (plus one SoDIMM, Apple's iMac G4's did the same as well)

I was hoping for an answer to the mystery. Okay, so... How did this happen? Did you contact Best Buy? What in their practices lead to this? Did they find the person that committed fraud? That's more interesting than "hey, this happened; we don't know why, but we can speculate!"
