Dell makes computers. Dell makes monitors. You would think that Dell could find a way to merge the two without making an all-in-one - And you’d be right! Let’s look at the OptiPlex 7070 Ultra…

Dell's consumer products and business solutions are basically separate companies that shares logo and part of distribution line. As far as I know (may not be true) - motherboards and components for Latitude and Vostro are made by Intel and Compal, and they are assembled by Dell itself in Ireland and Brasil, and (most) Inspirons are manufactured in China and Taiwan by subvendors and only supervised.

One Secret Trick your IT guy doesn't want you to know: With all of the deserved hate Dell gets from enthusiasts, it's easy to forget that there's good reasons they're industry leaders in business, education, & government. When looking to buy 20+ PCs for an office or classroom, Dell gets picked many times because of their special pricing options, they accept proof of a tax-free status, and their dreaded forced warranty service can be exactly what those bigger types of buyers need because it effectively outsources IT costs. Extended warranty coverage is why Cisco networking equipment is also a top choice among commercial Dell buyers. If it breaks, then Cisco sends a certified technician within 48 hours to the client's site for repair or replacement. The warranty can easily pay for itself when compared to hiring a dedicated on-site IT staff. Incompetent morons don't seem to get past the Cisco certification exams, so their support service has become an industry gold standard. The Oval Office uses Cisco VoIP phones so they're a pretty well respected brand.

well i would never buy it, 1400 dollars for an I5? per haps in 2019, my computer is a Lenovo with the same specs and costed me 700 dollars in the beggining of last year, i5s are old, i regret have bought my computer, without an i7 or a i9 your computer cannot roll the latest games, with my i5 with 8gb ram and 1080 Graphic card i cant even play witcher 3 in lower specs, for quality price the tech in Dell optiplex is not worth half of its price, you are paying for the name basicly. Linus do you think you can make a video with the best gaming laptops or computers in the market for less than 1000 dollars? I really need a gaming computer and i cannot exceed 1000 dollars, and my 700 dollar lenovo ideapad330 is not enough, i was going to buy the legion one but the specs were the same, i only sacrificed cooling but my games are not playable even when i launch them and my laptop is at minimal temperature, can you tell me how i can boost my laptop in order to play witcher 3 without having an ingame delay, fps are too low for the game to be even played, but the seller assured me he played witcher 3 in a computer with the same specs.

Eventhough this isn't 'consumer', you can still buy it as a consumer. It does have some good applications that I can think of. For an appliance PC, where you want internet access in a workshop for example, without having a big PC case or laptop spread out on a bench. My personal use-case would be as a music server connected to my DAC, which allows for a simple footprint and portability if I move around my setup; while keeping a sleek and simple footprint when in use. (I'm presently using a small thin client for the job.)

Oh boy...The sponser. Y'all should know that planting trees will NOT solve global warming. Here are some FACTS before you join that scam: for 50 million people living a first world lifestyle you would have to plant around 500 million trees EVERY single year before you actually manage to REDUCE your carbon footprint....LMFAO. You dig the trees (original source of carbon dioxide) and burn it while the planet is sustaining itself as much as possible and not getting extra vegetation. Where are you going to plant THAT many trees without messing up the ecosystem? right...dear youtube viewers, go invest ur money elsewhere.

Hey Linus!! Not everyone is rich and has a lot of money, some people like me can't make a great gaming PC at once, so we have to buy one part separately, and it takes one to two years. And as technology advances, the parts we buy become obsolete by then. Make a video of how we buy parts of a good gaming system in a couple of years, that Don't get old.

Dells monitor stand was already the best stand out there by far. And the next best stands were the ones that ripped of dells stand. Forget the bazillion movements it offer, it doesn't come in your keyboard or mouse way while you're gaming. Doesn't matter how close you sit to your monitor or what angle you place your keyboard.

With minor research I find the exitement from Linus rather weird. How is he so exited about paying 2 to 3 times only to make it fit in the arm of the monitor? An Intel NUC with similar specs as the current gen "Build Your Own" / Displayarm formfactor Dell costs a third to half of the price (300-500 euro), has Vesa mountability and way extended IO. For Apple users (if there would be point of discussion since OSX not gonna run on Dell) are better of with the Mac Mini for half the price (~600 euro) and better specs. As far as I know its Vesa mountable. So why so hyped about this product? Yes it's slick looking, but definitly not worth the price (unless I missed something huge). Just want to know cause in this way the video's get a "paid promotional" vibe to them if you ask me. Not even talking about the opinion based "Yaay for Dells way of working". Since I have no clue what is in my Dell laptop (even with the hardware tag) unless I spend a full hour exploring the website codes to see if I have the model with SmartCard and/or fingerprint or not. Just give me a damn serial or type to know EXACTLY what hardware I got in my hands instead, but well experiences in that case may vary.

  • Christopher Schmeltz
    Christopher Schmeltz

I've always thought that Dell mostly cares about their fellow businesses and making it more cost effective to help train IT maintenance technicians. Gullible end users are almost an afterthought to exploit for higher profits! (For those suckers who believe their sterling reputation, I should cite some evidence of reoccurring scummy behavior, such as pointed out in the recent Dell G5 5000 review by Gamers Nexus...) Even seemingly saintly corporations like CD Projekt Red occasionally take advantage of their reputation for a quick cash grab, as evidenced by the deceptions during the Cyberpunk 2077 pre-order. However, diligence is the price we pay for democratic capitalism and voting through our bank accounts is the main indicator of what's acceptable.
